Jewish Life in the City of Timisoara (TIMISOARA). On the roof with the symbol of the Greek god Hermes (HERMES, the messenger of the gods, the protector of merchants, with wings, both on the back and on the legs)
The Jewish community in the large city (third largest in Romania, second in Transylvania) was very rich and diverse, a modern and multicultural city, with three official languages (Romanian, Hungarian, German) and several other languages that could be heard on the streets, such as Serbian, Turkish, Yiddish and Ladino. The streets were wide and well-lit, clean and lively.
