Erica Weisz-Schveiger

Born in Dej (district of Cluj) in Transylvania- Romania in1947. Lived and educated in Cluj, one of the most important culture centers of Eastern Europe She begins her art studies at the high school of visual arts of Cluj (1961-1965) and continues at the academy of Visual Arts” Ion Andreescu” Cluj, graduated MA arts and crafts in 1971 with specialty textile design.

1971-76 she works in Sibiu (in 2007- cutural capital of United Europe) as a designer for a textile factory. In the same time, she joins the Sibiu department of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania and have an intensive activity as a tapestry weaver.

In 1975 she marries George Weisz and emigrate to Israel. Established in Beer – Sheba in the Negev desert. She works during 24 years as an art teacher for children and students.

In the same time, she develops her own style of tapestry –weaving. Retired from 2001 she dedicates herself entirely to her artistic work and to her family, she is between the founders of The Artist's House of Beer Sheva. In 2015 moved to Ariel, (in Judea and Samaria). and approaches to Judaism. She returns to realistic painting of nature and landscape.
